Jayci...and other stuff
Hey all! Jayci is a-okay. All the kids are fighting some kind of cold/croup, but Ethan is just now coming down with it and will hopefully be over it by Monday. Thanks for all your concern about Jayci. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

My sweet little girl got hurt so badly today
Today I was sitting on the couch watching TV with Kamryn and Jayci was watching TV in my bedroom. The TV sits up on a dresser. I guess that Jayci pulled the drawers out and climbed up on them and the dresser fell on her. Luckily there was a laundry basket in front of the dresser so the entire dresser didn't fall on her, but the TV did. I think she got knocked backward into my bed (the headboard and foodboard are wrought iron) and she got a HUGE cartoon like knot on her noggin. I was so scared. I called Chad's Aunt Pam, as she works at the Dr's office and the answering service answered (it was lunchtime) and I told them what happened and they said they would get a message to her to call me back. I called Chad and he was going to meet me at Urgent Care. On the way there Jayci kept dozing off, but it was nap time, so I just tried to keep her awake. She was getting so irritated with me. She just kept crying because she didn't want to go to the doctor. Finally we got to Urgent Care and they took what seemed like forever (probably 15 minutes) and then Aunt Pam called and said that Dr. deKay would see Jayci at the office, so we went there and he checked her over and said that she was okay.
It was such an eye-opening experience for me as a mother. I have opened those dresser drawers before and thought, Man that thing is really top-heavy. We should fix it. But I never did. Now, it's fixed. I really want to anchor it to the wall, but I'll do that at a later date. It's leaning more toward the wall now instead of forward and the TV is sitting farther back.
I feel so blessed that Jayci wasn't hurt worse than she was. I know that God was watching over her and I'm so glad that it wasn't her time. I feel so guilty that it even happened at all, so I can't even begin to imagine how I would feel if something horrible would have happened. I know that kids have died this way and I posted this blog so that all you readers would realize that it does happen and to fix up the things in your house that need fixed so your kids don't get hurt.
On a lighter note, I hope that you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving. If you're traveling elsewhere, I hope you travel safely. Don't forget about our troops fighting overseas for our rights to celebrate, or not celebrate if we choose that way too.
