No Better Day for a First Post

Well, I finally figured out how to get this blog thing going, so I chose today to get started.

The day started off mostly uneventful. Just the same ol' same. At about noon I was weed 'n' feeding the yards, front and back. I was wet and tired of doing it. It was a liquid kind that hooks up to the hose and the water had sprayed everywhere when I turned it on. Anyway, I kept telling Jayci to go inside because the stuff I was spraying was poisonous. While I was in the back yard spraying, she came out and said, "Mommy, I didn't spill that water." I replied, "What water?" And she said, "The water in the house." I thought nothing of it! I thought that she, in fact, HAD spilled water and I would just clean it up when I was done with my fertilizing.

So I finally finished, and I turned off the water and took off my shoes and was walking through the house so I could wash up when, all of the sudden, *SPLASH* I stepped right in a HUGE puddle in the middle of my living room! I was horrified! I didn't know what to do. I called Chad in a panic and told him that he needed to come home right away.

The spigot outside shares a wall with Ethan's room and so I ran into his room to see if there was any damage there, and indeed, there was. His entire carpet is soaked! I ran outside and, luckily we've been renovating the house and have needed to turn the water off and so the meter was loose and I was able to turn the water off. What a mess!

So here's what happened: A pipe froze this winter. That's it. Something that simple just did us in! Fortunately, we are blessed to know so many wonderful and talented people, so Chad called the plumber, Alan, and he came over and fixed the spigot so we could get going on fixing the drywall and such.

We haven't decided what we're going to do about the carpet (let it dry out, or replace it with Pergo), but we'll figure it out. It was one of those things that was definitely a big deal at the time, but we've already recovered (for now) and will just move on from here. My hero today is definitely Alan, the plumber.

Other things that happened today:

Ethan had a baseball game. His team, the Red Sox, lost. 11-6 I think. Chad is coaching him and I think they're just happy to spend the time together. Winning will matter more later. Right now it's all about learning. For us anyway. I wish the other parents felt the same way.

Halle brought a rocket home that she made at school to spray paint. More pictures on that later, I'm sure. She did a very good job. I'm proud of her!

Halle hit Jayci in the nose with a plastic baseball bat. Jayci's nose bled a littlt bit, but nothing major, thank goodness.

Kamryn is crawling all over the place. She is no longer content in the walker or playpen. She just wants to be held or down crawling around. She's a funny little baby. This is her new place to play: the bottom of her walker!
